Bartlett Pear & Bacon Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Grilled cheese is a go-to classic that everyone loves. This version has Bartlett pears and bacon, with a touch of sweet honeyed goat cheese, and lots of gooey mozzarella. A more grownup & gourmet taste makes this sandwich a must at any mealtime!

Ingredients

 

1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup butter, softened (60 mL)
8 slices of bread
1/2 cup crumbled or spreadable goat cheese (125 mL)
1 tbsp honey (15 mL)
2 Bartlett pears, thinly sliced
1/2 cup cooked bacon, or bacon bits (125 mL)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (500 mL)

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together garlic and butter. Lightly spread garlic-butter on one side of each slice of bread. Arrange four bread slices, butter side down, on work surface.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together goat cheese and honey until well combined.
  3. Divide pear slices, bacon, honeyed goat cheese, and mozzarella in four and layer on top of the bread. Top each sandwich with a slice of bread, butter side facing out.
  4. Heat a large frying pan over medium-low heat. Cook grilled cheese for 3 minutes on each side or until each side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
