There is something so warm and inviting about a freshly baked fruit crisp! This Ontario Jupiter grape and pear crisp features the very best of the local season. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a gooey, delicious, and comforting treat.
|4 cups (1 L)||peeled and diced Ontario pears|
|2 cups (500 mL)||Ontario Jupiter grapes|
|2 tbsp (30 mL)||cornstarch|
|2 tbsp (30 mL)||vanilla|
|1 tsp (5 mL)||ground cinnamon|
|1/4 tsp (1 mL)||ground nutmeg|
|1/4 tsp (1 mL)||salt|
|1/2 cup (125 mL)||salted butter, softened|
|1/2 cup (125 mL)||all-purpose flour|
|1/2 cup (125 mL)||rolled oats|
|1/2 cup (125 mL)||granulated sugar|
|1/2 cup (125 mL)||packed brown sugar|
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). In a large bowl, toss together pears, grapes, cornstarch, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Transfer pears and grape mixture to a 9x9 baking dish.
In a medium-sized bowl, mix together butter, flour, oats, granulated sugar and brown sugar until completely combined. The mixture will be lumpy and should look like a crumb topping. Spread topping evenly over the pear and grape mixture.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until the top becomes golden brown and the pears are soft. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Optional: serve with vanilla ice cream!
